Design & Finalize
The exciting part. We finalize colors, finishes, layout, and cabinetry together. You’ll receive a floor plan and 3D renderings of your build before a single tool touches the van.
Build & Weekly Updates
Your van takes shape over 8–12 weeks in our 15,000 sq ft facility. We use the best materials and accessories, and send photo updates every Friday so you can start planning your first trip.

Where do I begin. The VLC crew is unbelievable. The work they did on my van, which started as a discreet removal project, turned into a custom build of my dreams. We looked at several companies before selecting "Vanlife Customs" to complete the conversion of our 2025 Ford Transit Passenger Van. We are so pleased that we chose them. The entire team at Vanlife from start to finish was outstanding. They worked with us to develop our dreams and ideas into a beautiful and functional design that meets our needs for multiple uses of the vehicle ranging from remote work to hosting and entertaining grandkids on our adventures. Custom isn't just part of this company's name, it is what they do everyday. They used a 3D scanner in our van to perfectly fit our space with cabinets and equipment. They have craftsmen on site who build the cabinetry with the latest equipment to match our design choices. They also used a 3D printer to create parts to fit perfectly and professionally finish out trims. They searched for the perfect products to use in our van and installed them expertly. If they didn't find just the right product they created one to fit our needs like the privacy curtains between our quad captains chairs and the back portion of the van. They have engineers on the team who created the most efficient and effective electrical system for our HVAC and power needs. We are so happy with the work they did to make our van just they way we wanted. When we picked up the van, they did a great job teaching us how to use all the bells and whistles. This was an important investment for us and we definitely got a great return. The people there made the difference and they cared about us and "Vanna." We live in a different state, so since we weren't nearby, we especially appreciated the many ways that team members communicated with us throughout the entire design and build process with video meetings, phone calls, texts, and emails with photos to keep us informed of progress and to remain involved in the decisions that come up along the way. When we were looking to get our new Mercedes 4x4 Sprinter built out, we looked at a lot of custom van builders, and ultimately decided to go with Vanlife Customs. Now that we are 4 months into living in our van (@jomovan) full time and have put it through 8000 miles of highway, dirt road, and mixed-terrain driving... I wanted to write a review.
Customer Service: From our first call with Katie, to the check-in emails the team sends us as we explore in the finished van, Vanlife Customs treats us like family. They don't treat their customers like "just another van," and we feel like they really care about our satisfaction in the van.
Design/Build Process: One of the reasons we went with Vanlife Customs, is because they actually make custom vans. When we talked to other un-named shops, it felt like they were producing cookie cutter vans with no room for selecting different materials, layouts, style, or colors. VLC was up for the challenge of producing the van of our dreams... and while they also have suggested layouts/materials/components, they are still down to roll up their sleeves and build something truly custom. From a pull-up bar to drawer systems to ceiling style, VLC did it all. The process was seamless and they are very thorough. Make sure you go into the design meeting having a vision of what you're looking for (color, style, layout, components, etc.) to make the most of the process!
Cost: Vanlife Customs is producing high-quality work, and that obviously comes at a price compared to DIY... but we felt like Vanlife Customs pricing was extremely fair. They are extremely transparent with the cost structure, labor cost, material cost, etc. You pay for materials + labor cost. Ultimately, they came in under the price that many other leading van builder companies quoted... and VLC produced a van at a WAY higher quality.
Test of time: We've been in the van for 4 months and the build is holding up well! If something small has broken or came loose, Dave+team has express shipped us the parts and helped us get everything straightened out extremely fast. With a 4x4, we do drive our home/van off-road and the interior build has held up extremely well. VLC also offers a warranty to fix things free-of-charge that are caused by normal circumstances. This shows they stand behind their products.
